Real Housewives of ATL premieres tomorrow! Oh, drama-rama!

Are you gonna be tuning in?

Are you gonna be tuning in?

Wait no longer, the highly anticipated Season 2 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is premiering July 30 at 10 pm ET/PT (That’s 9 pm for us Chicagoans).  I’m looking forward to it.  Saw some previews and looked like Kandi (fr. Xscape) was snappin on these b*tches!

Who was your favorite housewife from Season 1? Me personally, I LOVE Lisa.  And, noooooo, it’s not because we have the same name.  She’s cute, she’s a good wife, mother and business women.  She is just a well-loved, well rounded woman!  FYI, did you know that she is Keith Sweat’s ex-wife? They had two kids together.  Sources say that Sweat did not want to broadcast his children on the show.  That’s why we never knew!

Envy Eyes by Davenda

So my girl Davenda is a professional make up artist.  She works at a well known make-up store in Downtown Chicago so she has wide exposure to different brands of make-up from over the counter to professional make-up.  I love how she does make-up on herself whenever we go out.  She also does make for photoshoots and clients at her job.  Working as a make-up artist/consultant in a location downtown allows her the opportunity to apply make-up on ALL types of faces.  She will be introducing her Beauty Tip of the Week shortly.  Make sure you check that out when it comes :)

If you would like to set up an appointment with her for a special event or even if you would like a consultation on how you can enhance your own unique beauty, send all inquiries to davenda_thompson@yahoo.com

Cohabitation – Shackin’ Up before Puttin’ a Ring on it!

Shackin' Up!

Shackin' Up!

So I read this article from National Healthy Marriage Resource Center and they said that the number of couples moving in together before marriage has increased from 35% in 1975 to 60% in 2001 – that’s almost double.  Rates for cohabitation among American couples is on the rise.  Surprisingly, the article also states that males are more favorable for cohabitation versus females.  I was shocked by that statistic – oh, then I remembered – they can get the “goodies” at any time and more frequently this way … lol.  The article also stated that “Research has shown that couples who co-habit prior to marriage have less stable marriages and are more likely to divorce than couples who did not co-habit prior to marriage.”

I don’t know about this one.  On one hand, I would want to know what my future husband would be like if we were to live together so I would WANT to move in before marriage.  On the otherhand, marriage symbolizes a level of maturity and commitment (for those who are serious) so I feel like getting married first would be the big step — and then moving in together would fall into place.  WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

First Day Blog

So I know that I haven’t covered EVERYTHING girls talk about, but heck – it’s only the first day!  Please feel free to send me topics of your choice so that I can get a discussion going, or do some additional research on.

Hugs & Giggles,

Lisa

One of the BEST Vietnamese Restaurants = Hoanh Long

So for my brother’s graduation dinner, my family and I ate at Hoanh Long.  It was the second time that I’ve been there.  Being that I am Vietnamese, I am fully aware of what AUTHENTIC Vietnamese Food tastes like.  That night, we ordered spring rolls and egg rolls for appetizers, a fish soup called canh chua, fish in a crockpot, salt and pepper pork, and the infamous Pho dish.   I came back to this place for my b-day with the girls and we were stuffed and SATISFIED.  You need to try the Papaya Salad! I’m not the only one who thinks this place is amazing.  Prices are good too.  Check out the Yelpers in the link below.

Beef Pho ... this is a popular Vietnamese Dish if you didn't know. It's comprised of rice noodles, beef, in beef broth usually garnished with cilantro, green onions, and bean sprouts.

Fish in a crock pot. That's not the official name of the dish I believe it's ca co. But you normally order this with canh chua and of course .... eat it with white rice.

Can chua, it's a soup with boiled fish, tomatoes, celerey, pinenapple, bean sprouts and often cilantro and sometimes with jalapeno peppers. It has a sour/spicey taste to it. So good with white rice.

Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now?

So, I read this article in Self Magazine that claims

Research shows that the type of guy who catches your eye may fluctuate during your monthly cycle.  Is Mr. Right merely Mr. Right Now?

Days 1-5, Menstruation:  Hormone levels of estrogen and progesterone are low, so its possible you may not have a strong preference.  Crabby, sure.  Picky? Maybe Not.  (Aka – Days 1-5 gives the guy that’s been crushing on you since forever a better chance! Aww … poor guy, he only gets 5 days out of the month! lol)

The classic "Screech" guy who never gets the girl :(

Days 6-14, Follicular Phase:  As estrogen rises steadily, so does fertility.  For the best baby-making odds, you’re drawn to hunks with lots of testosterone.  (Aka – this is where the cocky guy gets to prove himself!)

Yes I know, he's such a hunk. Shoot -- any day of the month really, don't you think? lol

Days 15-24, Luteal Phase:  At ovulation, around day 14, you’re most likely to conceive; after that, estrogen declines.  Preggers or not, you want stability.  (Aka – these are the nights we want to be with a thoughtful, considerate and romantic man — hopefully that’s your significant other, but for single ladies — stay clear of the ass holes/players)

Haven't you guys noticed this Hollywood Hunk is usually in long term relationships? First it was Brittney, then Cameron and now Jessica. Go JT!

Days 25-28, Premenstrual:  Leading up to your period, progesterone falls, so you may not be partial to one look–now’s the time to go to a party and keep an open mind. (Aka – ask your girlfriend – rephrase – your SOBER girlfriend if the guy is actually worth your time!)

Yea, I'm guilty of watching this show in the past. Damn, she was already an emotional wreck - those guys were brave to be around that b*tch for 6 weeks straight!

Ladies, do you feel this article is somewhat accurate?  Do you notice that you are attracted to different types of guys during the month?

Hank Baskett = Ideal Man?

I love this show!

I love this show!

So, did anyone catch the Kendra episode last night when Kendra announced her pregnancy?  I thought Hank handled the family drama EXTREMELY well for a man.  He said exactly the right things to make Kendra AND her family feel better about them bringing a child into the world.  Seriously, I hope this couple lasts.  They seem very in love (at least right now).  Hank better not change on us!  You know how that goes when it comes to guys! lol.

I think it's so cute when petite women are preggers :)
