Thanksgiving Leftover Ideas – Don’t You Dare Throw That Away!
Some things that come to mind … 1) I have a co-worker who actually does a FRY-day the day after Thanksgiving, and yes that’s literal. They basically batter and deep-fry all of their leftovers and enjoy a post-Thanksgiving fry feast. 2) Another popular idea is to hold a potluck party on the Friday/Saturday after Thanksgiving where everyone can either bring leftovers, make something new with leftovers, or even start from scratch. 3) The most obvious food to make with Thanksgiving leftovers are SANDWICHESE! Using leftover bread, turkey, stuffing, veggies and cranberry sauce/gravy will make for a fantastic holiday sandwich. 4) Turn those uneaten baked potatoes into German potato salad. 5) Or take the turkey meat, shredded cheese with some veggies and fold the ingredients into a flour tortilla. Grease a griddle, brown up the tortilla until the cheese melts. Or roll a room temperature tortilla around the meat, stuffing or mashed potatoes, apple sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy. That’s one serious turkey wrap.

I read a recent study from New York Magazine where they surveyed people about their “wants” this holiday season. To sum things up, the #1 desirable gift are vacations (of course). GADGETS (e.g. flatscreens, cameras, laptops, game systems, etc) fall right under vacations. Check out the pie-chart below! Also, 59% of people prefer Cash for Christmas, and 55% of people regift as new gifts – so beware of receiving a not so new gift! Or if you are a Regifter, make sure there is no evidence of that! lol. Attention Black Friday Shoppers: Tips & Info for the Most Anticipated Shopping Day of the YEAR!
When I think about Black Fridays, the first thing that comes to mind is “I need to have a plan!” Many retailers have started offering Black Friday Savings online today in order to draw you in for what’s in store [literally]. I know Walmart is promoting deals on their site as of now. You need to have a plan because if you plan on venturing out into the malls/stores this Friday, you most definitely need a LIST of things that you need to buy. With such aggressive and fast-moving shoppers around you, there is no time to browse! You can miss out on some big savings if you do not move quickly!
Black Friday discounts are offered online which is a huge convenience – but the caveat is that there are some unique massive savings occurring in-store only! So, make sure that if you decide to shop online ONLY, you are getting the best deals relative to your budget.
Speaking of budget, if you have a set amount that you are planning on spending, stop by the bank or atm and dispense only that amount from your checking account. Shopping with cash will most likely keep you from OVER-shopping.
So, here’s a summary of what you need to remember:
- Make a list of the people you need to buy gifts for and what gift you are going to buy them. Each person should have at least 2-3 options just in case their one gift is out of stock (you can also compare prices between their options this way). If you are a giving person, include a Miscellaneous section for last minute gifts for (no offense) last minute people. Click on the websites below to perform your research as to what good deals will fit your gift recipients.
- Shop online if it is sufficient. If you can find all the deals that you need online, I encourage you to do so. Many retailers are offering free shipping at this time, so take advantage. As I mentioned earlier, there may be better deals in-store only, but if your budget allows you to have some wiggle room – shopping in the comfort of your own home is worth it.
- Bring Cash. This is mainly for people on a budget, which is most of us! Credit Cards are EVIL during this time of year!
- Dress comfortably. For all my divas, heels is definitely not wise if you plan on visiting the mall for the massive deals.
- Get some rest. Almost all of the Black Friday deals start at the crack of dawn. So, please get some rest the night before. This will definitely help keep you on your toes! You don’t want to miss out on the $235 32″ HD Flatscreen @ Target!
I included a list of websites that will help you PLAN your day this Friday! Also check out the video for some helpful tips as well.

First-Time Buyer Tax Credit Extended to April 2010!
(from BBC News) Sales of previously-owned US homes jumped by 10.1% in October as buyers rushed to take advantage of tax credits, which have now been extended.
The National Association of Realtors said sales hit a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.1 million, up from a revised 5.54 million in September.
First-time buyer tax credits had been due to expire at the end of November, but have been extended until 30 April.
The jump in October home sales was the biggest in almost three years.
It was also much bigger than analysts had expected.
Low interest rates also helped to boost sales – the association said mortgage rates in October were at their third lowest since 1971.
‘Good numbers’
“Many buyers have been rushing to beat the deadline for the first-time buyer tax credit that was scheduled to expire at the end of this month, and similarly robust sales may be occurring in November,” said Lawrence Yun, the association’s chief economist.
Despite the upbeat figures, Mr Yun cautioned that sales could dip in the coming months.
“With such a sale spike, a measurable decline should be anticipated in December and early next year before another surge in spring and early summer.”
Short-term volatility aside, many analysts now believe the housing market is on the road to recovery.
“These are good numbers… and to me they say very clearly the we’ve passed the low on housing,” said Hugh Johnson at Johnson Illington Advisors.
New iPhone App – Only For the Ballers – But it’s Soooo Cool!

(from Fast Company) Mercedes has teamed up with Hughes Telematics to integrate all sorts of snappy automated systems in its new line. The system is dubbed mbrace, and it’ll also integrate with BlackBerry phones, which should please many a high-powered business people–you can even retrofit it to existing cars that have the Tele Aid option.
What’ll it let you do? Navigation, of course. But also remote door locking, vehicle finding, dealer connect, stolen vehicle location, automatic alarm notification, roadside assistance calling, and automatic collision notification (a potentially worrying one–presumably it’ll let you know if your partner has pranged your lovely Merc). If that’s not enough, there are premium extras that give you location-based weather and traffic info, and a concierge service that lets you book hotels, find stores, make restaurant reservations and so on.
These are mainly upgrades you can already add to your vehicle through a number of third-party applications and hardware bolt-ons. But the exciting thing is that Mercedes has realized the power of the smartphone, and sees how it will integrate totally into our lives in the future. And though this is clearly a luxury system for those with deep pockets at the moment, it’s a clear sign of how we’ll be interacting with our vehicles in the future.
**Man, I’m halfway there! I have the iPhone, all I need is the Benz! lol, but seriously, phones are just getting smarter and smarter every day. Everyone relies on their phone so much, it’s hard to imagine a world without phones. The type of phone you have is not only a reflection of how you communicate with others, but the TYPE of phone you have is really a reflection of your lifestyle. I believe that people who own smart phones are most likely more tech savvy and tend to be active in some sort of social network. Smart phones also offer tons of utilization applications which is an indication that smart phone users are up to date on the latest technology, and are also ones to use their phone to its full potential. Do you know anyone who doesn’t own a cell phone today? or never has?**
Runway Pictures From 2009 VS Fashion Show – Can You Say Flawless?
[Ladies] Let the ENVYING begin …
This year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion show was super sexy and playful. I loved almost every look they had flying down the runway. From hair to make-up, shoes to accessories, everything co-mingled great together to produce an unforgettable show. We have to give credit to Angels of course. Without their flawless bodies, exhibiting the lingerie line would not have been complete. All the models are undoubtedly beautiful but my favorite models are Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio.
