Why Do We Dream??

sleeping-smile-pillow

Dreams can be so complex, vivid and surreal, which is why so many people have suggested that there must be some deeper purpose behind them.

I actually have very epic dreams once in a while where I feel as though every feeling that hits me in the dream is REAL.  When I wake up, I have to question myself whether I won the lottery, if my boyfriend really cheated on me, or if Big Foot was really jogging next to me [yes - I have crazy wild dreams!].

According to a new study by sleep and dream expert J. Allan Hobson, dreams might just be the brain’s way of preparing for all of the experiences it will encounter upon waking.

“It helps explain a lot of things, like why people forget so many dreams,” Dr. Hobson told The New York Times. “It’s like jogging; the body doesn’t remember every step, but it knows it has exercised. It has been tuned up. It’s the same idea here: dreams are tuning the mind for conscious awareness.”

That actually makes a lot of sense. Did you ever notice the morning after your weird dream that your mind is all over the place that same day or same week? It could simply be the fact that you are subconsciously thinking about what you have going on in the short future, so your mind is just preparing itself.  It’s like your brain is training for a thinking marathon.  Keep that in mind the next time you have an important or stressful event coming up.  For those of you who always want an explanation for your dreams – this might be simple psychological the answer.

You can read more about the study in this article from The New York Times: A Dream Interpretation: Tuneups for the Brain.

MEGAN FOX NEWS

The famous hottie, Megan Fox, complains to New York Times Magazine that she just doesn’t get any respect from the females out there:

“Girls think I’m a slut, and I’ve been in the same relationship since I was 18. The problem is, if they think you’re attractive, you’re either stupid or a whore or a dumb whore. The instinct among girls.”

Megan Fox just loves to give us perplexing quotes to remember her by.  Her statement about women hating her makes me wonder if talking about her beauty is all she likes to articulate during interviews.  Although, I have to agree with Ms. Fox on this one. I feel that extremely pretty girls sometimes are scrutinized by other women because of their beauty or sex appeal.  That’s a result of one of two things: 1) The women doing the scrutinizing are extremely insecure with themselves and feel threatened by another woman’s beauty, or 2) The very beautiful woman is someone who is plain and simple, easy to dislike! But in most cases, reason #1 is usually the rationale.

EVA MENDES NEWS

Actress Eva Mendes attends the launch of Calvin Klein ‘Body’ Jeans at Calvin Klein boutique on November 12, 2009 in Milan, Italy.

In New York, Eva was criticized for her racy Calvin Klein underwear billboard as being too sexy for the public consumption.

I was a little disappointed by these pictures since Eva is promoting some sexy CK Jeans, yet she is wearing a plain and boring dress suited for the office.  I’m also shocked that NY (one of the fashion capitals) scrutinized her billboard ad. I didn’t even think it was that bad (1st pic above) really – topless with her back showing is not that serious.  People just love to complain about something or somebody now a days.
