Like most women, you are probably trying to drop a few pounds to be swimwear ready in the next couple of months.
Summer is just around the corner, and we all have our hearts set on warm weather and sunny beaches. The swimsuit search has begun and it’s time to check out the Spring 2011 runways for some stylish inspiration! Swimsuits this for this summer are full of retro, feminine, colorful pieces. Check out the trends below.
The Groovy 70′s

70′s fashion has been in full swing this season. Swimsuit trends didn’t miss a beat with a multitude of vibrant halter one-piece suits. Lanvin created an aqua design with a contrasting cognac belt and neck strap. DVF made a shining merlot suit with a gathered keyhole at the bust and Salvatore Ferragamo brightened up the runway with a chartreuse ultra-suede number.
The Rockin’ 80s

The 80′s are back in full force, and with them comes graphic prints! Suno’s high-waisted bikini was a definite stand-out for Spring 2011 swimwear with it’s African inspired print. The bold pattern combined with feminine details is an inspiring direction for swimwear. Vanessa Bruno went for a more subtle plaid suit with daring cutouts while Zero + Maria Cornejo took a classic one-piece design and amped up the style with a subtle abstract print.
Courageous Cutouts

Sexy cut outs weren’t left to sassy cocktail dresses and sultry evening gowns this season, swimwear has also slashed out in a major way. Roksanda Ilincic went for a dramatic style with a black strapless piece while Emanuel Ungaro took a girly approach to the sexy style with a floral cutout one-piece. Emilio Pucci dared the revealing trend on a graphic print suit.
Very Vibrant

Looking for bold hued suits that pack a punch? You’re in luck, vibrant and neon colors are hitting the beach this year! Yigal Azrouël combined a sunshine yellow with a chic minimalist design on the Spring ’11 catwalk. Zero + Maria Cornejo channeled the 80′s with a reversible hot pink and black twisted bandeau bikini. Karolina Kurkova walked the Michael Kors runway in a Kelly green sweater two-piece.
The Girly Girl

This is the season of the girly girl! Ditsy flower prints, ruffles and modest retro silhouettes have hit swimwear in a hard way. Marc Jacobs showed a muted beige and white floral print in a 50′s silhouette for his Spring ’11 show while DKNY flaunted ruffles on a strapless suit. Suno went ultra youthful with a ruffled white and yellow one piece for a truly nostalgic feel.
