Troy Polamalu: The Man with the $1 Million Hair

Troy Polamalu, 29, is a hard-hitting defender for the Pittsburg Steelers.

On the football field he has attained the highest honors, twice winning the Super Bowl with the Steelers and being selected for the annual NFL all-star game five times in a row.

But Polamalu, who was born in the US but is of Samoan decent, is rapidly gaining recognition for something other than his athletic abilities- his amazingly big and long hair.

It is 3ft long, frizzy and he claims not to have cut it in TEN years. And those flowing locks stick out prominently from beneath the crash helmet Polamalu wears during games.

After a series of popular TV advertisements promoting Head & Shoulders, P&G have decided to take out a $1 million to create the first ever insurance policy to protect his iconic mane for the entire NFL season

Polamalu’s hair has been used to halt him in his tracks in gridiron many times, most famously when Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson yanked his ponytail after he intercepted a pass four years ago.

Neither Lloyd’s nor Procter & Gamble provided details of exactly what damage to his hair would trigger a claim on the insurance policy (LOL).

Brett Favre Will Not Return to Vikings for 2nd Season

Now I’m not your biggest sports fan but one big name that I’ve heard of in football is Brett Favre. His credentials are outstanding, being a 19-year veteran, predominantly as the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He holds many NFL records including: most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, most career interceptions thrown, most consecutive starts, and most career victories as a starting quarterback. Therefore, I thought this article would be of interest to many [men].

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Brett Favre has informed the Vikings he will not return to Minnesota for a second season.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the team had not made an official announcement. The person says the 40-year-old Favre called coach Brad Childress to say his injured ankle is not responding as well to surgery and rehabilitation as he had hoped.

With Favre, of course, nothing is ever necessarily final. He also told the Vikings last year he wouldn’t play, but ultimately changed his mind and joined them immediately after they broke training camp.

Favre hurt his left ankle in the NFC championship loss to the New Orleans Saints. He had arthroscopic surgery in May.
