Bey’s Got it Like That!

The couple, who married in April 2008, are to take on both of their respective surnames.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, will now be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter, while Beyonce is to become Beyonce Knowles-Carter.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper, “They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves.”

Earlier this week, the Knowles family suffered a blow when it was announced that Beyonce’s parents Tina and Mathew would be divorcing after 29 years of marriage.

In October, rumors surfaced that Mathew may have been unfaithful, with a paternity suit filed by Alexandra Wright claiming he was the father of her unborn child – an allegation he has denied.

However, in a statement the estranged couple claimed that the divorce would not be “an ugly, messy fight” and they would continue working together amicably.

All I have to say is that Beyonce definitely has her man on lock! He ain’t going nowhere! Being a man of such caliber as Jay-Z, I’m kind of surprised that he has his wife’s last name attached to his.  Not that it is wrong, but it’s definitely RARE. I have a feeling he did it for Bey. He loves her … there’s no doubt about that. Even though in the celebrity world, marriages tend to only last for 5 minutes, I believe these two will be together for a while. They seemed to have taken a lot of precautions in the past and currently to keep their relationship fairly private. I mean – we never even saw any wedding photos! Although her parents’ marriage is on the rocks right now, they’ve been married for 29 years so Beyonce definitely has been influenced throughout her life on a how to hang in there for a long-lasting relationship.

It may be just me that I’m surprised by the fact that Jay took on Bey’s last name. To me, there’s kind of this perception of “ownership” when you attach your husband’s last name to your own. Point blank, the last name tells the world that you are married – and WHO you are married to. Fellas, do you think that taking on your wife’s last name a downgrade to your masculinity?

Hip Hop Drama: 50 Cent Addresses Jay-Z, Beanie and [of course] Rick Ross!

50

From allhiphop.com, Rapper 50 Cent appeared on Philadelphia’s Power 99 FM this morning (November 3) and addressed a number of controversial feuds currently taking place in Hip-Hop.

Sigel recently dropped a track titled “Average Cat,” where he accused Jay-Z of abandoning artists on Roc-A-Fella, questioned Jay-Z’s loyalty and accused the mogul of locking him into his deal with the Roc.

50 Cent confirmed Sigel’s allegations on “Average Cat” that he almost signed the Philadelphia-bred rapper to his G-Unit Records, which at one point, was to jointly market a project by former Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway.

“He [Beanie Sigel] would have got at least $800,000 at that point to come over,” 50 Cent told Miss Jones. “Jay was telling him that he didn’t want to lose him. I think Jay and Puffy had these feelings toward me at one point I believe.”

During an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Beanie Sigel revealed that he was close to signing a deal with G-Unit, but the deal was blocked by Jay-Z.

50 Cent confirmed this and also stated that he ran into the same issues when he attempted to bring estranged Bad Boy artist Mase into the G-Unit fold.

“They didn’t want to lose anything to me, while their energy was going on. Puff didn’t want to sign the Mase deal and Jay didn’t want to do that,”

50 Cent has wasted no time replying to Rick Ross’ “Baby By Me” remix which hit the Internet yesterday dissing G-Unit.

“I’ve never seen a bigger fraud in Hip-Hop. He Just did a remix to Baby by Me. “It’ll count as a spin for my record. He’s an idiot. I’d be upset if my baby’s momma was out there. He’s broke. His last album sold 300,000 copies. His last record [Triple C’s Custom Cars and Cyles ] just like sold 4,000 records.”

Jay-Z + Oprah = New BFF’s … lol, really?

Girltalk 24/7:  I’ve been hearing about Oprah and Jay-Z in the media recently, thinking it was just a really good interview that went down with O and Jay, but I guess their relationship has grown on a deeper level since they first started to really “understand” each other.  Check out the article I found below.

Jay walking Oprah through the Marcy Projects

Jay walking Oprah through the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, NY (August 9, 2009)

(MTV News) The iconic rapper and the talk-show queen connected once again last Friday, when Hov called in to Winfrey’s Sirius XM radio show just before hopping onstage at Wembley Stadium in London.

Winfrey  said Jay-Z taught her “Rap 101.” “I wouldn’t say that I passed, [but] he was kind to me,” Winfrey said.

Winfrey said that many people have doubted that she and Jay-Z could share anything in common, a notion both of them quickly dismissed.

“I think people need to understand there’s complexity in human beings,” Jay-Z said. “You just can’t look at someone and say that person is only that way. That person has on a black T-shirt, he’s not just that. I’m not just one thing and you’re not just one thing. We’re complex human beings.”

Winfrey’s friend Gayle King then joked that Winfrey’s new relationship with Jay-Z has given her street cred. “There’s not a lot of people that can walk through Marcy Projects, but you’re good,” Jay chimed in.

The pair first made headlines last month when Jay-Z brought Oprah to his former stomping grounds in Brooklyn’s Marcy Houses. Then it was revealed their lengthy interview would appear in O magazine (now on newsstands) and will also air on Winfrey’s show this Thursday (September 24). The media mogul called in to King’s radio show days after her sit-down with the MC and said that she and Jay-Z were now BFFs.

On Friday, King told Winfrey that Jay-Z wrote about her on his new album. “Meanwhile, had Oprah chillin’ in the projects/ Had her out in Bed-Stuy, chillin’ on the steps,” he raps in “On to the Next One.”

“No, I was not aware of that,” Winfrey said of the song. “As I’ve said to you, for me [it's not about] Jay [the rapper], it’s about the man.”

Rush Limbaugh Responds to Jay-Z

(MTV News) In a verse for the recently leaked “Off That” (his collaboration with Drake and Timbaland from the forthcoming The Blueprint 3), Jigga raps, “Please tell Bill O’Reilly to fall back/ Tell Rush Limbaugh to get off my b—s/ It’s 2010, not 1864.” On Monday, he got an eye-roll from O’Reilly on his nightly Fox News show. Then on Tuesday, Limbaugh weight in on his own radio show.

“I have been mentioned in a rap song by the rapper Jay-Z,” Limbaugh said. “The new song mentions me and the moderate Bill O’Reilly.” Limbaugh then actually played a clip of “Off That” before chiming back in. “As far as I know, I have never been mentioned in a rap song by anybody. It means I’ve made it — I’m now on a rap tune by the famous rapper Jay-Z.”

Limbaugh then elaborated on the reference to him in the lyric. “I would remind the rapper Jay-Z: Mr. Z, it is President Obama who wants mandated circumcision. That means if we need to save our penises from anybody, it’s Obama. I did not know I was on anybody’s b—s, either. I’m happy to know that they think I am, though.” The mention of Obama is in reference to the fact that the Center for Disease Control is considering recommending circumcision to high-risk adult men to reduce the spread of HIV, according to The New York Times.

Jigga has yet to publicly respond to either of the mentions by Limbaugh or O’Reilly. The attacks in the verse from “Off That” likely stems from O’Reilly’s criticism of the verse on Young Jeezy’s “My President” that Jay debuted at a club in Washington, D.C., during inauguration weekend.
