Katy Perry Covers Rolling Stone, says She’s Part of the ‘Problem’

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, on stands June 24th, Katy Perry invites editor Erik Hedegaard backstage at the kick-off of her California Dreams Tour. Between the elaborate rehearsals and three-hour make-up sessions, Perry reveals that she’s recently undergone a political awakening.

“It just feels like the thing running our country is a bank, money,” she says. “I know it sounds like an intense viewpoint, but I’m only slowly but surely getting the wool taken off my eyes. When I was a kid, I asked questions about my faith. Now I’m asking questions about the world.”

VH1 Divas Salute the Troops

On Friday night, stars such as Katy Perry, Kathy Griffin, Brandy, and more hit the road for San Diego to take part in the VH1 Divas Salute the Troops concert presented by the USO.

Hosted by Kathy at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, newlywed Katy stole the show with performances of “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” and more.

Russell Brand’s wife joined Nicki Minaj on stage later on for rendition of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” according to MTV.

Keri Hilson, Grace Potter, Nancy Wilson and Sugarland also took to the stage to salute the troops, with special guest appearances by Marissa Miller, Brandy, and Jersey Shore’s Mike Sorrentino and Snooki Polizzi.

Paramore and Hayley Williams also performed via satellite with pre-taped acts.

Katy Perry Emraces Indian Tradition as she Prepares for Wedding

She may be a California Gurl, but Katy Perry is fully embracing Indian tradition as she prepares to marry Russell Brand on Saturday.

The American singer was spotted sporting an Indian bridal nose ring – otherwise known as a nath – as she arrived at Jaipur airport today.

The nath comprises of a gold chain attached to a nose ring which is hooked across the bride’s right cheek and pinned to her hair above the ear.

Tradition dictates the bride’s will wear the nath throughout the wedding day, with the bridegroom removing it on the wedding night as a symbol of the woman’s virginity ending.

Katy Perry’s Vegas Style Bachelorette Party

Rihanna had her work cut out for her when it came to throwing fellow singer Katy Perry a bachelorette party. Earlier in the day, Perry’s fiance, Russell Brand, was arrested at LAX for assaulting a photographer who allegedly tried to get a photo up Perry’s skirt.

The two ladies hit the streets of Las Vegas, attending a production of Ka by Cirque de Soleil. Perry donned a veil and crown adorned with the word ‘bride’. They stopped backstage to take photos with performers after the show.

The pair became friends after vacationing in Barbados last year. Earlier in the year, Rihanna told Ryan Seacrest she felt the pressure of throwing an impressive party because Perry’s wedding was taking place in India.
